E-mail: [email protected] Z. Naturforsch. 56b, 1217-1226 (2001); received August 28, 2001 IR Spectra, Palladium(II) and Platinum(II) Complexes, /V-3-Pyridinylmethanesulfonamide The complexes ds-[Pd(PMSA)2Cl2] a's-[Pt(PMSA)2X2], rrans-[Pt(PMSA)2I2] and [Pt(PMSA)4]Cl2 (PMSA = N-3-pyridinylmethanesulfonamide; X = Cl, Br, I) have been syn thesized and characterized by elemental analysis, molar electric conductivity, IR and 'H NMR spectra. A detailed assignment of the IR spectra (4000-150 cm !) of the complexes, supported by an approximate normal coordinate analysis, has been performed. The com plexes are of square-planar type and the PMSA ligand is coordinated via the pyridine nitro gen atom.

Background and Objectives: Transition metal complexes possess a variety of biological and pharmacological activities, such as antitumor, antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, anti-diabetic, and free radical scavenging. Many studies have been carried out on platinum-based chemotherapy agents, however, most attention has been paid to non-platinum metal-based agents in order to find different metal comp...

A micellar solution of cetylpyridinium chloride (CPC) can separate into two phases due to a temperature change or to the addition of salts. Platinum(II), (IV) and palladium(II) reacted with chloride ions to form stable anionic complexes of PtCl4(2-), PtCl6(2-) and PdCl4(2-), respectively, and were adsorbed onto the CPC gel phase. The CPC phase plays the role of an ion-exchange adsorbent for the...

Reaction of [PtMe(C^N)(SMe2)] (C^N = 2-phenylpyridinate (ppy); 1a, C^N = benzo[h]quinolate, (bhq); 1b) with hydrogen peroxide gives the platinum(IV) complexes trans-[PtMe(OH)2(C^N)(H2O)] (C^N = ppy; 3a, C^N = bhq, 3b) bearing platinum-oxygen bonds. The Pt(II) complexes 1a and 1b have 5dπ(Pt)→π*(C^N) MLCT band in the visible region which is used to easily follow the kinetic of its reaction with ...
